    John Miles is a retired US Marine Corps Officer and former college professor that now delivers lectures on historical topics to groups and writes articles for history periodicals as well as history novels.  He presents lectures to multiple Scottish Highland Games and Celtic Festivals throughout the country.  In addition to highland games and veteran’s organizations, he also gives historical presentations at multiple Assisted and Independent Living Facilities and public libraries throughout the United States.

    John holds or has held membership in the following organizations; Clan Gillean USA, Clan Donnachaidh USA, The Scottish American Military Society (SAMS), Scottish American Society Palm Beach, FL, the St. Andrew’s Society of Albany, NY, and the Scottish American Society of Tidewater, VA.  He received his MA degree in Military Studies from American Military University and his BA degree in Anthropology with a minor in History from Texas A&M University. 

    John is a six-time published author in Marine Corps Gazette, the professional journal of the Marine Corps.  Additionally, his articles have been published by the journal Scot’s Heritage Magazine, the magazine Pipes & Drums, the webpage of History Scotland, the periodicals American Frontiersman, and Military History  magazine as well as the journalThe Highlander.
