    John Miles is a retired US Marine Corps Officer and former college professor (State University of New York ((SUNY)) Maritime) who now delivers lectures on historical topics to groups and writes articles for history periodicals as well as history novels.  He presents lectures to multiple Scottish Highland Games and Celtic Festivals throughout the country.  In addition to highland games and veterans organizations, he also gives historical presentations at multiple retirement communities and public libraries.

    John received his Master of Arts in Military Studies from American Military University and his Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology with a minor in History from Texas A&M University. He is a member of Gillean (Maclean),  Clan Donnachaidh (Robertson), and the Scottish-American Military Society (SAMS)

    John is a multi-time published author in Marine Corps Gazette, the U.S. Marine Corps professional journal.  Additionally, his articles have been published by the journals Scots Heritage, Pipes & Drums, History Scotland, Ireland's Own, American Frontiersman,  Military History, The Pipings Newsletter of Clan Maclean, as well as The Highlander.
