Her father is the Athletic Director at the local college and a visiting history professor from Ireland tells him that in Celtic mythology, wells were considered a conduit between our world and the netherworld.. The novel transitions between the young girl's nightmares about soldiers' deaths in the battle and her parents trying to find a way to make the dreams stop.
